The biggest asset is usually the Matrimonial home and other properties. One or more properties can be transferred into the solename of, say the wife, while the husband lives elsewhere. This will certainly happen if the wife has young children living with her. Occasionally if both parties are working and there are no children there can be a once and for all lump sum payment to affect a clean break.
